Born and raised in Somalia, Lul experienced firsthand the barriers that hindered the progress of marginalized communities. Fueled by a passion for positive change, she embarked on a mission to uplift these communities and create opportunities for them to thrive. Throughout her career with organizations such as CSET Seed Production Ltd, Minority Rights Group International, Danish Refugee Committee, and in the private sector, she has been a tireless advocate for marginalized groups.
Lul’s entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to biodiversity conservation led her to become a prominent figure in the agribusiness sector in Somalia. Through her endeavors, she has not only created sustainable livelihoods but also empowered local farmers, particularly those from minority backgrounds, by providing training, resources, and access to markets. Her participation in smart agriculture projects has strengthened the capacities of small-scale women farmers and local communities, contributing to agricultural security despite the challenges posed by climate change.

Ms Lul is persueing her Master’s degree in Horticulture as her existing passion for agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and her commitment to enhancing agricultural security against the backdrop of climate change. This advanced degree will not only deepen her technical expertise and research capabilities but also empower her to innovate further in the agribusiness sector. With her focus on empowering local farmers, especially women and those from minority backgrounds, her advanced studies could introduce new, sustainable farming techniques and crop varieties better suited to local conditions and climate resilience. Additionally, this could enhance her leadership in the field, enabling her to contribute more significantly to policy dialogues and strategic frameworks that support the agricultural sector in Somalia, driving forward initiatives that ensure food security, economic growth, and community development.
